Dr. Christie M. Charles is a long time resident of St. Matinville, Louisiana. She received her Bachelor’s degree in 1999 from the University of Southwestern Louisiana and her Master’s degree in 2003 from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Dr. Christie earned her PhD in organizational psychology, completing the industrial, organizational, and consultation tracks, from Walden University in 2017. Dr. Christie earned her certification as a life coach through the Life Purpose Institute in 2021.
Dr. Christie began her teaching career at UL Lafayette in 2001 as a graduate teaching assistant and is currently a full-time senior instructor in the psychology department. Her primary research interests include: a) legal issues in employee selection; b) employment challenges of federally protected classes and special populations; c) employee recruitment and selection and the assessment of commonly used recruitment and selection techniques; d) employee satisfaction and employee motivation; e) organizational development with a focus on organizational conflict, leadership, and communication; and f) formation and evaluation of effective training systems.
Along with her over 18 years of teaching experience at UL Lafayette, Dr. Christie has over 25 years of real world, on-the-job experience. She has held fulfillment, managerial, and logistical positions. Dr. Christie is the proud CEO and Sole Proprietor of CMC Business & Life Consulting.
Dr. Christie is scholar-practitioner in the field of organizational psychology who applies principles of psychology to improve worker productivity and resolve human resources, administration, management, sales, and marketing problems. Her activities include policy planning, employee testing and selection, training and development, employee performance appraisal, and organizational/program development and analysis. She is highly proficient in the following areas:
(a) focusing long periods of time on entering, cleaning, and tagging data into a system with adequate speed, accuracy, and a high degree of sensitivity
(b) analyzing data, drawing insights, and preparing reports in a cohesive, intuitive, and simplistic manner.
